Al Mansouri Spearheads First Meeting of National Statistics CentrePublish Date: 2010-03-14 14:00:21 Story Code: 26032 ABU DHABI — UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri has headed the first meeting of the board of directors of the National Statistics Centre in Abu Dhabi.
Al Mansouri said this national body will play a strategic role in building the national statistics database, and praised the cooperation of both private and government institutions in creating this. The meeting discussed duties and mandate of the centre and its relation with other government departments on both federal and local levels including local statistic centers in the UAE. Participants also discussed the organisational structure of the centre and mandate of its departments and units and its budget and human resources system. Participants have seen various presentations on statistical status including the census project of 2010 and other national projects. Al Mansouri has listened to the comments of the board of directors and he emphasised the importance of integrating efforts on both local and federal levels in order to develop the performance of statistics in the UAE. © Khaleej Times 2010.
