The hotel called: ‘Coral International Cape Town’ is a Shariah-compliant property, which is located in a Muslim populated area of Cape Town where one can find mosque on every street. Its a joint venture between Coral Hotels, a subsidiary of Hospitality Management Holding (HMH), and Cii Hotel & Resorts Cape Town (Pty) Ltd - a member of CII Holdings (Pty) Ltd. Coral International Cape Town brings for the first time to South Africa an experience of Arabian hospitality combined with world-class modern facilities. Coral is the first Gulf hotel brand to make the journey to South Africa and is looking to expand its presence in the country. “We are dedicated to invest in our brands and do see exciting opportunities in South Africa which offers some of the finest hotel locations. We are here for the long-haul and look forward to serving this growing market,” HMH chief executive officer Michel Noblet said. The hotel was officially inaugurated by Trevor Manuel, Minister in the Presidency, in the presence of UAE Ambassador to South Africa Ismaeel Obaid Al Ali, HMH Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Sheikh Abdullah bin Saqr Al Nahyan and some other prominent businessmen. “Our aim with Coral International Cape Town is to offer a prestigious new address with a distinctive experience. The hotel is a beautiful addition to our portfolio and offers a safe haven for travellers in an alcohol-free environment,” Noblet said. Michel said: “In foreseeable future, the engine of growth will be here in Africa. We are delighted to be present in this key market and look forward to further expansion. We offer a full spectrum of choice in hospitality with four distinctive brands catering to all segments of travellers – from luxury 5-star hotels to budget properties.” Group chief executive officer for Cii Holdings Hamza Farooqui said, “We are very excited to open Coral International Cape Town in time for the FIFA World Cup 2010. It is a historic moment for all of us as all eyes turn to South Africa. The coming months will see an enormous surge in tourism as the nation gears up to host the biggest event of its kind ever held in Africa and we are ready for the challenge.” Coral International Cape Town offers an upscale experience. Serving as the centerpiece of the city on the border of Bo-Kaap, 20 minutes drive from Cape Town International Airport, the hotel makes a beautiful architectural statement. With the outline of Table Mountain just in front of it the view from some of the rooms at Coral International Cape Town is absolutely spectacular. Jacqui Booyzen, General Manager of the hotel said, “Coral International Cape Town takes modern luxury to a higher level. All its 137 well-appointed rooms and suites are elegantly furnished and equipped with indulgent amenities. Superior meeting facilities, outstanding dining outlets and superb leisure options make for a memorable experience. Along with an excellent range of facilities we offer our guests those added extras that make all the difference to a trip. The goal is to appeal to both leisure and business travellers with an intimate, more personalised service and greater attention to detail in a comfortable environment that doesn’t feel over bearing.” The demand for accommodations far exceeds supply in South Africa and hence swamped with business, it is currently the most attractive place in the world for hotels. The country is spending a whopping $5.4 billion on projects related to the World Cup including new hotels, safari lodges and stadiums. A record 450,000 international visitors are expected during the month-long tournament which kicks off in June. —abdulbasit@khaleejtimes.com © Khaleej Times 2010. All rights reserved.
