DUBAI - SITA, an air transport information technology company, said the Arab Air Carriers Organisation is endorsing its newly-developed software that accurately measures carbon emissions from aircraft operations.

The company said four airlines from the Middle East, the US and Europe are testing its Aircraft Emissions Manager, which it claims is the world’s first monitoring, reporting and verification software tool that can make precise measurements of carbon emissions from airplanes.

One test has been completed and three more are  underway as airlines finalise their plans for monitoring and reporting carbon dioxide emissions to the European Union by August 31.

AACO it said, is the first  organisation to recommend adoption of the SITA Aircraft Emissions Manager solution to its members.  “The Arab Air Carriers Organisation is happy to endorse SITA’s Aircraft Emissions Manager based on extensive consultations and successful testing of the solution. We are satisfied that the SITA solution will allow our member airlines to provide 100 per cent  accurate data on our carbon emissions to the EU,” said Abdul Wahab Teffaha, AACO secretary-general.
