Tiff over Room Lands Brothers in CourtPublish Date: 2009-07-04 10:00:05 Story Code: 17374 DUBAI - A UAE national, in his twenties, went on trial on Thursday in the Court of Misdemeanours on the charge of damaging his elder brother’s property at their family residence on October 13 last year.
The two brothers were not on good terms with each other. After the defendant pleaded not guilty, the court fixed August 6 as the date of hearing for the defence to present its arguments. According to court records, on October 13 last year, the complainant was surprised to see his younger brother taking possession of his room at their villa in Qusais. He got upset to find that the room’s decor was changed. The younger brother had even thrown the closet and the baby carriage in the backyard. Hence, the elder brother lodged a complaint with the Qusais police station. The younger brother told the police that he had taken his mother’s permission to stay in his brother’s room, but he could not explain why he did not stay in his own room. When questioned by the prosecutors, he admitted to having differences with his elder brother. He, however, denied doing anything wrong or damaging his brother’s property. © Khaleej Times 2009.
